Hi, i am hoping that someone can throw some light on my heater problems, if my heater on the drivers side is on full temp then it works fine blowing out hot air but as soon as i turn the temp down a fraction the heater blows cold air, passenger side works all ok its just the drivers side, so its either burning hot or freezing cold, can anyone help please, thanks

i'm guessing the blend motor maybe....something isnt regulating the hot and cold air.... ... - .- -.

Mine was solved after changing blower resistor.
But it was blowing cold on both sides when not maxed. 2010 3.6tdv8 180k km.

Mine is definitely warmer on passenger side and pretty cold on the drivers side so I expect its the valve thingy under the bonnet someone pointed me at.
Having said that, I wonder if it would be prudent to to replace the hedgehog, hopefully it wont be as awkward as it is on an E39! That was not fun!

Hi Guy's and Gal's, newbie here, but I guess I'll be a regular!

So my 2013 SDV8 is running pretty fine except.... (how many people say that?) After around 30-45 mnutes, the heater becomes inop or just blows ambient temperature (which is now cold!). That is unless i tyrn the dials up to MAX temp, then she blows hot but only on MAX.

Reading the threads, I see the blower resistor could be a place to start?

Additionally, I sometimes smell burning oil, and once saw slight smoke eminating fromt he front of the grille area whiilst in traffic! The old level is fine (as far as I ca tell), the oild looks fine, no water (white deposits etc.), I don;t see much if any evidence of oil drips, any ideas?

Heater problems on 322s are often solved by replacing the final stage resistor and lubricating the flap mechanism that directs where the air goes, that cured the two I had.

If the outside temperature is cold enough (5 degrees or lower?) the fuel burning heater comes on. In certain circumstances it will vent smoke to the outside, often from a wheel arch, but maybe depending on wind direction it could also show at the front. If the car is switched off when there is still fuel in the FBH it can burn off for a short while afterwards. That can look a bit alarming if one is not used to it, and it is not that well received by 'green' bystanders.

The 4.4 TDV8 is so efficient that it does not generate a great deal of heat, so one gets the slightly odd effect that there is much better heating into the cabin when it is colder and the FBH comes on than when it is slightly warmer and it does not and one is just getting heat off the engine. Only Range Rovers since 1988
