L322 Turbo // DPF // Viscous fan advice sought | |
Hi there,
My 2011 L322 4.4L TDV8 came up with the red DPF Go to dealer warning light and went into limp mode last week which of course is a pain. I’m having the DPF removed, cleaned and re-installed (roughly £500) rather than getting a new one which would be considerably more. The garage also will charge £120 for a DPF regeneration which I thought was odd as surely if ut has been cleaned, what is there to regenerate? Am I missing something?
When they removed the DPF, they noticed that the (secondary) turbo was leaking oil which is likely the cause of the DPF issue. I’ve received a quote of £1,100 for a reconditioned turbo plus £600 labour. Does this sound about right? Is there no way to repair the turbo instead of replacing it. I’m aware that my mechanic is mostly replace rather than repair chap so I wanted to get a more impartial opinion.
Lastly, he recommends replacing the engine viscous fan for £500 plus £200. Does this seem right?
Any advice / opinions would be much appreciated. I love my L322 but having already spent around £3k on repairs this year, I’m definitely looking for any means of reducing costs now.
Thanks!
Deepesh
