HELP not sure what my Range Rover is but have an issue

SORTED - was the fuel pump under the rear passenger side, (think it’s the inline one)
Thanks for the help and advice!!

Very Happy
I have a Range Rover Vogue TD6 Auto 2005 Diesel 2926CC are they all the L322 models? My log book doesn't say anything other than above

I have an intermittent fault loosing power, I can see this is a common issue but can't find any info saying how the fault was fixed. I can put my foot to the floor when parked and it will go up to 5000 revs for a few seconds then die back to 3000. I can do the same and only get up to 3000, when I drive and have problems I can literally only go 25mph, earlier I was driving uphill at 15mph. I've had it in the garage and they couldn't find fault (intermittent) so go nowhere.

Any help appreciated
thanks in advance Confused

Yes, all the cars your shape 2002 to 2012 is the L322. That’s the code used by the factory. The current shape is the L405.

Did the garage read any of the codes? Normally it would store a code if it had a sensor issue or such like.

Is there any white or black smoke from the exhaust?

When was it last serviced?

I’ve not had the issue so just trying to eliminate things.

Servicing is a good point as it could be something simple as an old fuel filter restricting flow 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

full service a couple of months ago with HiQ, they didn't mention a code just said the fault didn't occur when they drove it. My son is a mechanic and has cleaned this out for me as it happened a couple of months ago too, he checked it 2 weeks ago and it still looked clear - see pictures in my gallery.

I've not had any smoke but when my son drove it he floored it and said there was one black puff and it was great after that.

Pinky......I don't wish to appear rude, sarcastic or even patronising but the words Range Rover & HiQ really do not go together.
These tyre places that do "servicing" are exactly what they say on the tin "tyres"! They & their guys are just not up to working on these girls. Think about finding an independent Range Rover specialist who knows these girls inside out, not just a tyre grease monkey in a tyre bay.
If your son [who's a mechanic] works for HiQ then I send my apologies, I wasn't trying to disrespect him Embarassed 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

He doesn’t work for them 🤣
I was away from home and having issues so I took it there, was convenient. Not everyone can afford a specialist either so could come across as quite rude but I’ve not taken offence 🙄
I have a good place who are specialists and still struggled to diagnose my last problem, was something under the passenger seat that controls electrics (I think) Luckily my lad is keen on improving his knowledge and is learning from my misfortunes 🙄🤣
My son changed the part shown and that fault code has cleared however the issue hasn’t. The in-line fuel pump rear passenger side is his next job, fault code but also sounds pretty rough so hopefully that’s going to fix it.
👍😊

Had to change the side fuel pump when I had my TD6. Easy enough to do. Some have got them going in an emergency by giving it a whack, but sounds like yours is a bit intermittent. Worth changing.

AA came out to mine, as it had just failed to start, no warning, he pulled fuel pipe off the fuel filter under the bonnet and could see that fuel wasn’t coming through when cranking. Diagnosed the fuel pump under the side.

As anyone who knows me or reads my post will know - I'm no mechanic Very Happy However, I did have similar symptoms on a Mercedes diesel (it would run but had no power) it was nothing more complicated than a split turbo hose. I only know this because I asked the Merc garage I took it to, needless to say the charge for the fix and the actual cost of the fix were miles apart. It's not just Range Rover garages Rolling with laughter Geoff

IMHO Fox889 is bang on... I'm sorry but if you can't afford a specialist to work on your car then buy a different car or learn to do it yourself.

These cars are well known for not being the most reliable car on the planet...

Yours is 16 years old and has around 20 ECU's controlling all sorts, they all have to speak to each other and gain information from lots of sensors all over the vehicle...

If your son changes the pump and it doesn't fix it what will you do? Change something else hoping it will fix the problem....!!! the money soon adds up.... get a specialist to look at it and with their diagnostic equipment that shows real time data they will know where your problem is...

If not, invest money in a good DEDICATED diagnostic tool (Gap IID IMHO is the best) and get your son to learn how to use it.

You can keep one of these on the road for a reasonable amount of money but you have to make sure it is serviced and fixed correctly by someone who knows them a bit better than the average pit stop type garage...

Good luck, I hope it's a cheap fix... Thumbs Up Pete

Mjdronfield - thanks for the advice, the pump sounds rough so hopefully it is just that.

Haylands - Luckily I can afford it and luckily again my son has the diagnostic equipment and we viewed the real time data. Yes my car is of a certain age however it’s only got 39k miles on the clock, I came here to ask if others had seen similar problems & what they turned out to be. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but yours sounds a bit harsh & snobby 🤷‍♀️, I knew when I bought it they have problems which aren’t cheap to fix but if I can save some money by doing a bit of research, (hence my reason for joining the forum) I will. No point giving it away is there 👍😁 Hopefully Ryan will soon be an expert on them.

Hi Denise

How on earth did you find such a low mileage TD6?

Any photos?

Jim
