A mate of mine recently got a Nikon P7000, seems to be rather a decent piece of kit, but as Stan says it depends on your requirements........ Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I've never had a bad experience with a Canon.

I still use my Canon Powershot S80, and for a point and shoot it's great. The SX230 it's newer brother:

The photo's taken with the SX230 look supreme for a pocket camera:

here's a thought, if you only take the occasional picture then do what i'm doing by getting a mobile phone with a decent camera and 720p hd video recording, saves carrying a camera and a phone ..

Agreed, and yes I know I'm a nokia fanboi, but it is the best camera phone out there. The Telegraph used it in this article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/pict...phone.html

Sorry, Nokia pimping Embarassed

Handy to fit in a pocket, before the breakage we had an mju410 olympus, which was ideal for everyday use. I'm not David.B, so nothing too fancy. Point and shoot. I'm tied in with the phone so thats not on the cards at the moment. Ian

I don't think you can do better than a Canon Ixus if you're just after a compact. We've had a few and they're absolutely brilliant.

My dad has just bought a Canon G12 as a bridge camera for when he doesn't want to carry his DSLR. I'm really impressed by that too.
