Theres a lot published on the web about 2 stroke added to diesel. It is much more than upper cylinder lubricant it does affect the combustion process. I ran a 2001 Merc Sprinter van, 350,000 miles most of it on bio fuel and a small amount of stroke added to the tank. The engine was noticeably smoother with the tiniest amounts of 2 stroke added, that van's engine was never touched in that mileage, it was incredible. It's still on the road now and has in excess of 500,000 miles on the clock, it's now being run on ordinary diesel with 2 stroke though. BMW i3 Electric Car

I was making the point that 2 stroke oil didnt do any harm and it was a noticeable difference. 100% agree about DPF. BMW i3 Electric Car

I’ve got the best part of 200,000 miles of putting 2 Stroke in my diesels, all with DPFs, and can only report beneficial outcomes.

Can you name a customer who has claimed on their warranty after causing damage by using 2 Stroke Oil? |

I consistently run my RRS1 (no DPF) and my wife’s SAAB 93 (has a DPF) with the oil for yonks now. No decrease in fuel consumption on either but they are both smoother. No smoke or anything negative, but to equal the argument perhaps it does nothing at all. But there must be something in it, like those above who’ve done big miles?. visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk |

I used it for a few years on my D3 (non dpf) with no negatives. The positives may have been a placebo affect, who knows?

And customers hate design engineers that do dreadful work eg, brake pipes that corrode on a vehicle that can wade up to 1 metre deep, subframes that have serious rust issues, wishbones that snap, inaccessible engine areas and the list goes on
Very true, sadly a lot of the time it is broke and needs fixing. Many members make improvements to their vehicles and try to preserve the longevity avoiding main stealer exorbitant rates. My short experience with a manual TD5 D2 was indeed a quieter engine but the edge taken off power, particularly noticeable on light throttle at low revs on slight inclines, perhaps due to the lowered cetane rating of the resultant fuel. Less bang for more buck! |
