Fluctuating revs !

Hi all, a few weeks ago my 3.6 came up with restricted performance when driving at 50mph, went down to about 40mph max speed, also flashed up drive carefully EBD not working and traction control not working. Pulled straight over and stopped, restarted engine and car drove 17 miles home normally.

Checked on the IID when I got home and no faults came up.

Today when driving home on a slight incline the revs started to fluctuate between about 2000 and 1500 revs around 40 mph, no noticeable shudder or anything. Ive heard this could be the torque convertor and wondering if anyone had any thoughts ? Car has now done 126, 000 and has been relatively problem free for 3 years.

Update

Forgot to mention in my previous post that the problem with the car only happened when I was driving home from work, same roads there and back. Drove perfectly going to work yet revs up and down when going home, also started to get a slight misfire and black smoke when I put my foot down.

Today when at work I checked the intercooler hoses and you guessed it ! split hose, did a temporary repair and no smoke or misfire on the way home today.
