Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme are very hard to beat as an all round Winter Tyre and probably the very best in the snow.

I just got four General Grabber AT's 255/55 19's these are not the old AT2 and although alot of the Disco 3/4 boys have tried them I haven't heard of any one fitting them to a Full Fat yet so unfortunately no direct opinions of how good they are, yet. 2008 MY Supercharged

Vred Wintracs definitely, I have tried the all round BFG's, Avon, Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear, now running Vreds all year round - absolutely fantastic last winter and the wear is holding up well, check the D3 forum under tyres for a thread, last time I looked it was up to 18 odd pages... |

While we are on the subject will the below alloy & tyre combination be any good for winter?

The wheels are perfect but the tyres may be a little over the top for everyday winter use including long journeys. The MTR is a specialist "Mud" tyre with very deep tread blocks designed for offroading although fine for local use. You really want a tyre with a proper road tread but with a winter bias like the Vreds and others. |

MTR's are awful in the wet (and not that great in the dry) - as has been stated they have wide open treads so are great in mud but there is relatively little rubber in contact with the road therefore not much grip.
