I have the urge upon me!……

Hi all

I have the urge to swap to a newer Range Rover but am struggling with the value of my current one.

*2005 55 plate.
*114,000 miles.
*Good service history.
*Gearbox service at 97,000 miles.
*Sills and rear wheel arches in good condition and rust proofed.
*Everything works!
*Mot til November.
*L405 alloys with Pirelli Verdi all season tyres
*3 owners from new.

I owned her for 2.5 years and had no problems apart from replacing the lower front suspension arms for the last MOT. One small rust spot on the R/N/S wheel arch that I didn’t catch in time.

I was thinking of a price of £5250? What are peoples thoughts?

Jim

Doesn't seem to be a particularly good time to buy or trade up at the moment as the marketplace seems very understocked and overpriced. If like me you have a perfectly sound and usable car and just want a change it may be best to hold off until the market cools down but that could be well into next year.....

Yes, but I’d imagine the one you were buying might have dropped more….due to the higher value….

Only way round it is to sell yours now and buy again when the market drops….. though that’s not often practical……

I got £5500 trade in for my 2003 TD6 back in 2015, so it’s not a bad price given it was nearly 6 years ago and your car is now 4 years older than mine was at the time.

Strong prices at the moment…..

I guess that it’s 6 of one and half dozen of the other?

Assuming you want to trade up and are looking at cars for 10-15K? In 2022 your car may be worth £500 less but the car you want to buy will have have dropped 2-3k
