Supercharged Gearbox Removal

I started the process of dropping the box out of the Supercharged last night to replace it but have a couple of questions that I'm hoping someone more knowledgable then me will know the answer to! Very Happy

I removed all the bolts from the front prop shaft last night but it appears to be solid in the transfer box and front diff. It looks like there's a cup that it locates in so I'm guessing it's seized due to corrosion. Is there a knack to removing these or is it just brute force and ignorance?

Is there enough room to get the gearbox out without removing the rear prop completely? It would be great if there was as it would mean being able to leave the exhaust and all the heat shields in place rather then removing them too!

I'm going to be ordering more bits this afternoon as the manual states to replace the prop shaft bolts. Looks like they're stretch bolts from reading the manual.

Thanks!

Wooden mallet to remove the propshaft...

Last time I did one I took the box and transfer case out as one, just undo the rear prop and move it out the way had to remove the exhaust to get the box out... It wasn't a S/C but I think they are similar... Thumbs Up

I’ve got a brand new genuine LR rear main seal here as I knew if I didn’t it’d turn out that mine was leaking. As it happens the one on this car is bone dry.

Both boxes side by side. I’m going to swap the transfer box over tomorrow and then hopefully start the reassembly.
