United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

Yea, I took it for a run late at night so the roads were quiet and did the relearn process. I can't be sure that's what caused it but there's a lot of stories out there of people warning against resetting them on older higher mileage boxes. I don't know if 130k is classed as high mileage on one or not.

End of the day, something killed mine unfortunately. I don't understand the boxes so I'll likely never know what it was.

Am tempted to fish the new bridge seal and the 4 dowels out of mine and swap them into the replacement before fitting it though.

IMHO don't take the old seals etc out, don't fit old or new seals etc, just change the oil and refit the box (after cleaning the oil lines and cooler) Do not reset adaptions...

Run it as it is and see what happens, it will love you more for leaving it alone with that mileage on it... Pete

Interesting thought Pete.

I was under the impression that the seals above the valve block can cause problems with poor shifting when they stop sealing properly so was going to change them before refilling the box with oil. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

The advice that I've seen is to replace the seal when removing the pan because if the seal leaks then the pan has to be dropped to R&R the seal requiring new oil again.

This is the seal kit that I put in the previous box. It was around £50 from memory.

This video from PowerfulUK suggests that I'm going to need to match the new gearboxes TCU to my car using the IID tool and the first part of that process was to clear the adaptions Big Cry

I hope this one works after it's done. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

AFAIK it should work without doing anything....

If it ain't broke, don't fix it goes a long way with things like this...

It's your box, if it was mine I'd just do as I said earlier and see what happens... I did nothing to the box I changed in Fatty Offroader and it worked fine....

Those seals are not a common failure so why bother....! Pete

Scotland

You can reflash without resetting adaptions

Some are plug and play, some need a reflash

It'll be fine Thumbs Up
