Opinions please on this RR?

I've been searching for a while now and I'm struggling to find a suitable machine.

I'm looking presently at this 2010 4.4 TDV8.

Lots and lots of toys, which is nice, very well specced VSE. Price is at the very top end of the HPI private value. (It's a private sale).

The bad;
Rear arch rust in the normal place. Structurally it seems fine so maybe quite superficial. Am I going to find this on most?

Slight bubbling on the tailgate in the normal place. Should I buy with this or are there examples

The bits i'm concerned about;
Underneath. Lots of corrosion. I'm looking to know if this is relatively normal and not a reason to avoid one, or if this is a bad example?

Under the engine, clearly damp with oil. Couldn't see any evidence of oil on the driveway however.

When he started it up we got a Restricted Performance message. He says it's been sitting for ages. Normal?
We went for a 100mph blast on the m/way and after shutting down and starting again, message didn't return.

Any opinions greatly received. Is it a 'buy, but you'll need to spend x' or 'run a mile'.

TIA!! Gallery of photos attached below.

I think they might be all getting a bit of something on the rear arches.

I’d budget up to £1000 for oil cooler replacement.... worst case....

Don’t think mine is that brown underneath, but I have just had to tidy up my tow bar.

Make sure there is no oil in the coolant.

Not sure about restricted performance... could be a split hose or something more involved....

Need to read codes for that one I suppose.

You might need to look at a couple more to see what’s usual around rust etc....

Completely echo this. Have a look at some others, even if you have no intention of buying them. This will give you a benchmark to work from.
Interested to know is the car is near the sea??

Thanks all for your thoughts so far.

No oil in coolant that I could see. It was pink. Fill level slightly below ‘cold fill level’ mark.

There’s not much near me to see at the moment sadly.

Given the amount of corrosion on the car l personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Thumbs Up

Sounds like a boat launcher i.e. repeated dips into saltwater.

Thanks all.

With all of the combined issues and the high price I think I’ll leave it.

Can’t believe how difficult it is to find an L322, sitting with money ready, there’s just nothing good out there that’s not massively inflated.

I'm up in Dundee, and have travelled the length of the country for all my Range Rovers, last one from Barrow-in Furness, prior to that , was in Essex. Used prices have strentghened recently across the board, if you wait, someone on here will have one in the not too distant future. What's your remit and we can all scoure tinterwebs for candidates too....

Yes, I think I might now be out-priced on what I want and can afford compared to what I could when I was looking a few months ago while still trying to sell my last car!

That's very generous. Internet has been scoured but hopefully there are sources I've missed..

So I need a 2010+ 4.4 TDV8.

Realistically absolute maximum is £17,500. This leaves little for borkage in the short term so it would need to be a really good one.

Mileage; under 90k - but obviously what I would want to spend drops as the mileage reaches this high. The one in the OP I would have made a deal for at £17k, to put it in perspective. Nearly fully loaded VSE with 50k and FSH, but with the described issues the seller wasn't aware of..

Needs to be VSE up.

No other strong requirements, prefer tan interior. Interior must be in good clean condition. Would prefer deployable side steps but can always fit those after.

There's an AB on Collecting Cars at the moment ends tonight, currently at £17k which I thought was a bit strong but I'm probably out of touch Smile.

Nothing to do with me I should add (the site or the car).

Thanks. Price would be around what I expect if it was in really nice condition, but it looks pretty worn for the mileage sadly. BP pushes it out of budget.

I did, thank you.

Feeling a bit beggars can’t be choosers at the moment but I think I’m not a fan of black/all black!!

I’ll keep hunting.

Edit: yeah I saw the Perth one too. It’s been up for a while, I wonder why Shocked

If I was looking at a late L322 I'd not be looking locally. Scottish cars rust a lot more then they do south of the Border due to the amount of salt they spread up here.

Anyone know a specialist near Glasgow who would be willing to do a destination inspection on a car?
