Ok we’ll let you count on your hand how many parts are different.

The design is done. Take it or leave it.

I’m still firmly seated on the leave it side of the fence

What are you actually talking about? Of course the design is finalised.

Have they kept the low waitline and large glass area of the 405, or is it more like the more hemmed in feeling of the D5?

Anyone?

Glasshouse looks fairly similar overlaid on the L405, but it tapers more to the rear.

One of the launch videos has leaked now.

The PHEV must have a much larger battery if it can do 65km when only 65% charged.

It seems to me that the UI is mocked up and not accurate.

65km seems to be the full range and the green bar around the 65km seems to be a progress bar that indicates that the battery is change to roughly 50% of that range. Depending on weather, driving style etc, a 65% charge could only give you 50% of the range but all that is just really confusing.

Apple is known for obsessing over the tiniest detail ahead each keynote and this is why - fans take screen shots and try to understand how things work.

I couldn’t be happier with our MY20 P400e AB to be honest. When we ordered our 911 GTS back in late 2015 I had a suspicion that the 991.1 would be peak 911 design (and last NA) for quite a while. Had the same gut feeling when we ordered our L405 - it’s really hard to improve on such an accomplished Design as the facelifted L405.

Being the designer for iconic car models like the Range Rover, 911, MB G-wagon and the VW Golf must be one of the most ungrateful jobs one can have. Go too conservative and everyone says you have chickened out, push too hard and fans hate you. The window of delight is very narrow.

IMHO, the rear end is over designed. It’s like the pointless cut next to the front wheel in the DB11. Range Rover should have gone more conservative with the rear (as they did with front and side). Something like how Rolls Royce cleaned up the design of the RR Ghost from wrinkles and shut lines would have worked well IMO. I think that’s what they were aiming to do and also achieved in the front and side. What happed to the rear is less clear - maybe it’s because of aerodynamics? Feels disjointed.

I think they could have instead truly pushed the interior design a lot and integrated the screen. I’m thinking Wally Yachts - very clean, modern, and functional but also clearly luxurious.

This student concept posted a couple of years ago is actually more interesting to me

As for 7 CDB's question regarding electric. My understanding is as follows:

Hybrid model comes in August / September 2022 with a range of 100km from a 30-minute charge

Full electric is still 3 years away!!

The MLA platform is made for a later BEV version as well, so putting enough batteries in the floor to get 100km range in the PHEV should be possible. So I expect aja500 to be right!

Actually, it's really growing on me.

I'd be looking to the launch tonight, but I know they'll have a whole load of media/marketing tw@'s that will ruin it.

@zion,

Couldn't´t agree more, it s probably a very thankless job. The design can obviously be debated endlessly and each their own and all that.

My main beef looking at the design, specially the interior, is that its lost the Range Rover "feeling". aja500 was onto the same thing that a Range Rover should feel like home. Imho thats a sense of comfort above all else...

This interior to me feels more like an apple store than the Connaught....but then again I´ve only seen the images RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado - 02

LR Discovery 4 SDV6 -11 - Gone
RR Vogue 3.6 TDV8 - Gone

The quarter lights are a bit odd.

Yes the quarter lights are strange. I don't know why they've done that as the door hinge looks forward enough to take all the glass without needing a quarter light.

There must be a reason?

Assume it has to be for packaging.

UAE prices start at the equivalent of ~£114k for a P360 SE, most expensive is the First Edition LWB P530 at ~£167k. Presumably start lower over here.

The P510e replaces the P400e. It has a c.100 mile pure electric range, mated to a straight 6 diesel rather than the puny 2 litre petrol version currently.
PHEV will be about 3 months after launch, with the new SV range coming about 6 months post launch
