Charging system fault detected

Hi all. Jumped in my ‘68 SD 4.4 today and “charging system fault detected” came up with a picture of a battery. Drove off to find the heated steering wheel and heated seat wouldn’t come on. Assumed significant lack of battery power, so turned around and went home to get into a different car for my 2 hour round trip Monday work journey.
Its due to go down to Taunton LR (from Cheltenham) Friday as a coincidence. . Anyone have experience of this and whether I’m likely to make it to Taunton!!!?

Do you know what the state of your battery is? If the car had been standing for a while before you jumped in, the battery may have been a bit low. These vehicles sometimes throw spurious errors when the battery voltage is low. Kev

The garage put a new battery in it when I picked it up a month ago. I thought something was strange this weekend when the stop start wasn’t working.

It could be that the Gateway Module needs updating, mine did exactly the same thing. Should still be under manufacturers warranty, call LR Assistance out, they can check the battery and update the module if necessary. I don’t think you’ll have any problems getting to Taunton once on the move but the error may need clearing.
