Throttle Lag

Hi,

I initially thought that this was standard operation (think I read a comment to this effect in a magazine review), however having searched the forum and found nothing on the subject, I am now not so sure. Perhaps you could let me know your thoughts?

My 07MY TDV8 has what I think is a fairly dramatic throttle delay, particularly at low revs. The delay between pressing the throttle and the revs starting to increase is anywhere between 0.5 seconds and a second. Whilst this may not seem a lot, it certainly feels it at a roundabout!!

In the esteemed opinion of the forum.... is this normal or should throttle response be immediate?

Cheers! Thumbs Up -----------------------------------------------

Have noticed the same although not quite a second delay. As the delay progresses and the oncoming vehicle approaches, the throttle is depressed further and further until ones entrance onto the roundabout becomes quite undignified! I may try sport mode one day as, and this is a complete guess, in drive the car is attempted to pull away in 2nd in normal conditions whereas perhaps in sport the car will use first to pull away from stationary. Sport mode does make the throttle snappier in my S/C though I believe this has more to do with a profile setting for the fly by wire throttle?

dont know much about your model but a recall reading that there was a problem with the turbo's which should have been replaced under warranty, could yours not being replaced be the reason for your throttle lag...

Typical with most RR I find, you have to press a long way to get it moving.

I remapped mine which helped bring the throttle response down much lower. Mine is the petrol one, yours will benefit hugely from a map anyway. Used to have:

Thanks chaps.

That has put my mind at rest I think. Thumbs Up

I have been thinking about a re-map though, which as you say BigJ should improve the throttle response. Do we think JE or BAS? I like the idea of being able to remove and reinstall the map at will, as per the BAS remap but many on here seem to rave about JE.

Thoughts?

Thanks again. -----------------------------------------------

Just go to the people who know about them.

I do all my own, but then again that's my job!

You can program them yourselves, it's simply a Powergate device that holds your original and modified maps. The TDV8's flash very quickly.

They go very very well. Used to have:

For clarity, you will always be pleased with Pete @ Bell Autos maps guaranteed. Never seen a JBS map yet. Used to have:

On all the diesels I've driven it seems to be a 'feature'

When I test drove a TD6 I nearly had a side-on collision on a roundabout, foot hard down it just didn't seem to move! 2008/58 FFRR 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

This thread made me LOL. I have never really thought about the throttle lag but it is definitely there.............as I discovered when the dealer lent me a S/C motor. Talk about hustling EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I was actually compensating for the throttle lag, which of course the S/C doesn't have. Embarassed Embarassed

So, does having a re-map improve this? Obviously the car gets quicker but does it get rid of the half second delay on the loud pedal as well ?

If the mapper knows where to look and amend then yes Smile
