Big static shocks from door handles!

How can I stop this?

After driving the car, I can touch the car bodywork or grounding points such as the door catches on the bodywork but, as soon as I touch a door handle I get a nasty static shock every single time.

I have tried other door handles and the story is the same.[/list] 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Have you got any other electrical issues that could be caused by a dodgy earth connection?

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.

Try fitting a rubber floor mat to the drivers footwell. The static is most likely caused by by your shoes rubbing on the carpet.

If I can touch a grounding point and not get a shock though, why would I get one from the doors? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

My Mum gets static shocks from cars all the time, as she is 89, it looks like she is on shock therapy, it's hilarious.

Personally I have Never had this issue with mine, only shocks I get, are the prices when buying bloody spare parts Rolling with laughter

If you get the shock when you've got out, hold a metal part of the door as you put your feet to the ground, the static will discharge from shoes with no pain etc. If its when you return to the car, touch the metal with your elbow, it will discharge through clothing and you wont get the shock from the handle.
Sorry, just reread your post, touch the handle or bodywork firmly with your elbow and you'll be fine, or even hold a metal object and touch the handle, it's the plasma of the arc that does a tiny burn, you feel anything through metal. BMW i3 Electric Car
