if you can get hold of a Icarsoft V2 you can monitor in Realtime the voltage and NM value of each damper.
in theory if you see the voltage drop, but the NM value does not it would indicate the valve on the damper may be stuck or the fluid in the damper has past its best or leaked away (you cannot detect a leak on the fronts unless you take the air bags off)

just a thought

So I think it should be current (A) rather than volts, maybe the iCarsoft is just labelling this incorrectly.

Also the stiffness value (Nm) will be a calculated value from the current demand (basically just reading off a scale), so it won't be reporting real-time stiffness data unfortunately. Sam's Motor & Machine YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgNSRjY0I9FCzsi9ku3ccbw

Just to update

when i engage drive the shocks get a voltage of 1.5 volts this drops the NM value from 899NM to 250NM on the rears.
I will try to plug in and take some pics of all four to give people a baseline to work from.

So if I engage drive and get someone to keep their foot on the brake all the dampers should be at the soft setting?, so if I do a bounce test then they should all bounce roughly the same if they are all working, do you think that would work??

I think they energize once you start moving, rather than just engaging drive - but could be wrong there, been a while since I had it plugged into SDD. Sam's Motor & Machine YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgNSRjY0I9FCzsi9ku3ccbw

Not trying to detract from the core issue in this thread but I'm feeling my steering is heavier than it should be lately.

I had this issue on my last l322 and never fixed it just some days it was nice others not.

Now I'm wondering if the 2 faults could be connected?

Could I ask how you feel about the steering weight on your L322s chaps?

Mine just fine! Sweet, in fact... Some of those over-priced tyres can make it seem heavier, for some reason, though who knows why?!? Maybe to make them wear out faster?!? Neutral

Mine feels fine, not finger-tip light but nearly. That's even with my big A/T tyres on.

I seem to remember a problem that the early L322s had with their 'servotronic' valves for the steering - which is meant to vary steering weight according to speed. I'd be surprised if it's related to the harsh ride, but I won't say it's impossible! Sam's Motor & Machine YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgNSRjY0I9FCzsi9ku3ccbw

Thanks for your input guys!

Landymansam I was actually watching one of your videos last night and thought to myself 'mine certainly isnt that light!'

I tried replacing the servotronic on my last l322 and it didn't make a difference at all.

(That car also had a new rack and a known good used pump but like I say I never sorted it. My first L322 Westminster
was as you describe sam almost fingertip light)

I will go away and ponder it

My steering is fine… light at slow speeds, bit heavier as speed builds, though to be fair, it normally has a belly resting on it, so self centering not the best 🤣.

My suspension going harsh coincided with me upping the tyre pressures a bit for load. If that’s a factor, it may have jiggled the shocks more and potentially unstuck or stuck one of those solenoid valve things… if we are guessing.

Just been out, and I’ve deduced that at 30 or 40 I can feed the steering on smoothly, with my hand at the top position down to about 9 or 8 o’clock… and the tyres will start to squeal before the body starts to roll. The front of the car is still flat… or at least not rolled enough for me to notice whilst trying not to slide out the seat. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

according to live data as soon as you go into drive, voltage goes to 1.5 and nm goes to 250NM this is for the rears will check the fronts 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

After Sam has changed his front struts and found no change I'm now thinking it must be bush related. I have had the bushes checked but i think they have just done the quick test that MOT require for suspension bushes not for subframe mounts. It feels as though my whole subframe is loose and moving about! But no clunking which might counteracts the claim. Im fed up of how it drives.

Not recently, though Sam said in a video that he had put non CVD units on, and it was pretty much the same.

I’m assuming it’s that.

He has still yet to replace with new CVD fronts.

UPDATE

My suspensions gone stiff again this week unfortunately!

I've just fitted the rear dampers that I bought off coopss and it's not helped other than the back of the car doesn't feel as bouncy now.

This coupled with stiff steering is really making the car a bear to drive.

Kind of regretting buying another L322 now.

Hopefully one day we will have a fix but for now I'm out of ideas
