England 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Monte Carlo Blue
Supercharged l322

Afternoon all, have just recently bought a 4.2 supercharged 2005 to replace my 2003 4.4 vogue, which I've given to my son, he loves it, to tell the truth I'm not sure which I prefer, both nice cars, carried out a lot of work on the 2003 one, new rad, water pump, intercooler, hydraulic hoses, alternator, steering wheel control's for phone, ulf module, gear box service & neutral switch. I went down to London to pick up the supercharged one, on the way home, osr calliper seized up, great start lol, the garage i bought it from eventually stumped up for the repairs, took a couple of weeks to get them to pay up though, so far so good with it, had to renew the shark fin antenna as that had given up the ghost, bit of a rough change of gears between 1st to 2nd & 2nd to 1st, but apparently this is a symptom of this particular gear box/model, I've looked on line & apparently its a simple software issue, requires updating, how true this is i don't know, but just in case I've bought new pan, filter & lifeguard oil, the easy fit pan/filter, when weather warms up a bit I'll change it, will have to find out if its a main dealer that has to do the software update or will an independent garage have the tools to do it.

The g box oil change may well sort out the clunk from 2 to 1

It did on mine anyway without any software changes or reset of adaptations

If you purchase an IID tool from GAP then you will be able to update the gearbox software yourself I believe.

1 to 2 and 2 to 1 shifts are quite often a bit "tuggy" with the 6 speed. An oil and filter change is definitely the right thing to do as it's likely not been done before.

I did the solenoids in mine whilst doing the oil and filter, then reset the adaptions. It's nice and smooth now but I've also read of people having issues after doing the adaptions so be careful how far you go Smile

Totally agree with the gear box oil change or flush if it wasn't done already. 1-2-1 are notoriously sensitive to driving style as well. I find that if you tell the car/gearbox confidently what you want to do and follow through they are smooth as butter. But if you hesitate and aren't so sure it one of those where they get most easily confused.

Not applicable for our gearboxes but x10 that on dual clutch or dct type systems...
