I decoupled the car's OBD socket from the dash panel and fitted the switchable extender behind the trim panels.
The switch is accessible elsewhere.

The car's OBD socket is now a dummy. There's a socket there but it won't do anything. A bit of security thinking....

All this allows the flap to stay closed and the IID stays ready and easy to activate.
