2004, TD6! can anyone please tell me where both subframes are most prone to rust and is welding an option? also if i need to replace how involving is it ( im switched on with spannering) Any recommendations where to get replacements? Cheers, Andy.

Both of mine were rotten and failed the MOT in January. My rear subframe had corroded around the main subframe bush towards the front of the car and on the passenger side.

The front subframe had also corroded on the passenger side but due to oil leaks these usually survive better and mine had only rusted through as it had been jacked up on or used off road and dented it. I also found some bad corrosion missed on the MOT on the drivers side right at the very front covered by the under tray.

If you are at the stage where your subframes are bad then it might be worth removing the sill covers as there is always plenty of rust waiting for you there.

You can weld them as I’ve done mine and they’ve passed the MOT and they are very obviously welded.

I knew my arches and sills possibly need attention! So you say you welded your subframes?
