Drivers Side Heater Stuck on Hot

On the SC I’ve just about finished tinkering with the drivers side heater is stuck on what feels like the hottest setting.

The passengers one works fine and seems to regulate the temperature without any issues but the drivers one is melting my feet even when set to 16 degrees.

Moving the temperature to the windscreen does seems to redirect the heat away but it still gets very warm very quickly.

On the P38’s I’d be thinking about tearing the dash out to get to the blend motors. I’m praying the L322 isn’t the same!

There’s no faults visible with the IID tool to point me in any direction unfortunately.

Has anybody got any ideas? I doubt it, but could it be related to the fact the cooling system has just been in bits?

Thanks,

One thing to check would be heater valve solenoid. Should be on the right side near wheel arch(if you stand in front of the car)

Thanks guys.

I did wonder about that but everybody else’s posts suggested that they were getting no heat whereas I’m getting a ton of heat!

Now to find the Censored Very Happy

Mine was the same hot on drivers side all the time.
The little valve was shagged out when I stripped it down for a look see.

Thanks Dave.

That really helpful to know. Am I right in thinking that as I stand looking into the bonnet it’ll be on the right hand side between the engine and the wheel arch?

Yep its tuck in the in the middle of all the hoses, just unbolt it and lift it out dont worry about bending the hoses there rubber after all. You will lose a bit of coolant I just put a funnel on the end of each hose and poured it straight in before connecting it to the solinoid valve unit saves getting air locks

Thanks Dave, I’ll get one ordered up tonight and will have a bash at fitting it when it arrives Smile

I finally got around to fitting the heater valve this afternoon.

It has indeed cured the fault with the heater. It’s nice and balanced across the car now and my toes no longer feel like they’re melting after I’ve been in the car for 20 minutes.

Thanks for the points guys.
