I had noticed that my L405 vibrates when brake is applied at high speed. So I replaced the rear brake pads and disc which seemed to have plenty of life still in them.

I still feel the vibration when brake is applied. Any idea what I should do?

Could be an issue with the front disks / pads ?

If the vibration is felt through the steering wheel it’s usually the fronts. If it’s felt through your seat, the rears.

As a rough rule of thumb.

Most likely brake discs but I have known a buckled alloy wheel give similar symptoms 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I had the same issue on my L322, it wasn't bad, but it was noticeable.

Changed both front discs and the problem disappeared.

Talking of wheels, I managed to scrape NSR turning a bit too sharp out of a left turn junction today. Running Continentals on the dreaded 22 inch wheels and I think it boils down to the tyres being more or less level with the rims. I have another car running low profiles (Michelin Pilot) and they have rubber sticking out beyond the rim as protection to the occasional light contact.

Thanks guys. I will I guess bite the bullet and replace the front ones as well. Plenty of life on the pads as well as the disc visually. What a waste. I hope it fixes.

Even though I feel vibration in brake pedal and seat and at very high speed I feel in steering as well when brakes are applied.

As for kerbing, there is absolutely no way to avoid it and I have badly kerbed my previous Range Rover. But the Range Rover I have now detects kerbs and warns me. So that is a good feature.

Before you replace the front discs/pads have the front lower arms checked! We get this often with 405's! If the bushes are collapsing then it makes a vibration that most of my customers report as brake imbalance...

The lower front arms have a large bush one end... See how much movement there is? Has the rubber started to break up and crack? It’s usually very obvious! Check with a bar as to how far they move?

You can always run the car into a tyre shop and ask them to check the wheels for balance and true and ask if they/you can look at the bushes whilst it’s in the air and the wheels are off...

Just be aware of the social distancing rules?

in addition to what Craig says, binding front calipers can produce vibration too, but you'd notice heat on the wheel/smoke in bad cases. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Didn't update this. It was the front disc on the inner side, both of them pitted. Replaced that with pads and issue went away. Brakes work very good now.
