Red or brown, well that’s obvious... isn’t it?

When faced with a red wire and a brown wire it would be reasonable to assume that red is positive and brown is ground wouldn’t it? Well apparently not if you’re Land Rover Confused
I discovered this recently when I replaced the standard H7 high-beam bulbs for LED versions. One way works, the other doesn’t. Oh how I’ve missed owning a Range Rover Laughing 2011 TDV8 4.4 Vogue SE in Galway Green with Black leather

No it wouldn’t be safe to assume that. In automotive wiring, especially for British cars, red is normally the switch for the lighting circuit. And brown is the main battery feed.

L322 originally used BMW wiring spec though, so brown=ground instead of the usual black=ground. But this did change on later models, from 2010MY I think the L322 had been completely "rewired" to LR spec colours.
