Changing lightbulbs

Can the original H7 477 Xenon bulbs be replaced by LED bulbs?

Thank you

Fred

I read something on facebook, one of those click bait traps, MOT regs changing in 2021.
Cars with "upgraded" headlight bulbs - ie going from halogen to LED or HID etc will fail the MOT.
I've no idea if the MOT regs are actually changing - I never trust anything I read on click bait - maybe someone on here is in the know?

The headlight optics / focus / beam pattern are designed for the single point of light in a std halogen bulb, my brother bought a Disco2 which had HID's - yes they were bright - no definable beam pattern and he was dazzling everybody judging by how often he got flashed. He put it back to standard Halogen and straight away said they were actually better than the HID's for seeing where you are going!

Food for thought that just because an LED/ HID bulb will fit doesn't automatically make it better.

Like I said - I've no idea if the MOT regs are actually changing - maybe someone on here is in the know? Anything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough (and have deep pockets|)
