TDV8 Occasional Lumpy Idle when warm.

Hi All,

I have noticed on a few occasions when the car has been used but then left for an hour or two that on restart the idle feels a bit lumpy, if you then put it in gear its more prnounced. Normally you switch off and restart or drive it and its fine.

I read online that this is not an uncommon occurrence and someone mentioned the Engine oil temp sensor can be to blame. So I checked mine on GAP and sure enough it was reading 5c on a day when the temp is 20+ !

I drove it for a few minutes and it suddenly jumped up to 60c.

So I will replace it and see if it cures the issue. Just wondered how the Oil temp sensor would cause lumpy idle (assuming that is the issue in my case).... L322 2007 TDV8 3.6

Ay up Chris, mine does the exact opposite in cold weather. From a cold start it chugs for about 2 seconds then it clears itself. Interested to see what happens to yours when you fit a new sensor.
Kev.
