Rear ISOFIX points buried ... just go for it ???

I'm wondering if anyone can help: I'm about to fit an iso-fix baby seat to the rear row of our new (edit to add 'new to us' MY17) L405 - the iso-fix points seem extremely buried in the chair and I was wary of just thrusting the iso-fix bars into those gaps however I think that is what I am meant to do - but wanted to check!

Any advice before I go for it?
