Evening chaps and chapesses...

So finally managed to get hold of an OEM tow bar kit, so I can tow at the correct height. The Thule one was just a bit low for all the trailers i own..

I bought a used one in the end (the 4th I’ve tried to buy)
It looks to have all the correct plug and play wiring, the trailer module and just went in the socket in the back of the boot. I thought I was sorted but....

All the trailer lights themselves seem to work, the parking sensors are disabled when it’s connected.. so something is working. But... the dash green trailer tell is permanently lit, rather than blinking when I indicate...

Could it be a duff trailer module? Perhaps left outside in the breakers yard..

Really? Why on earth? To remind me that I have a trailer on?

We queried the same thing when we bought a new one in 2007 and was told the reason behind it was exactly that - to remind you there was a trailer connected.

That’s intriguing, but I still don’t understand why you’d need to know that over having a telltale of the indicators

That was the reason we questioned it too.

We’ve had 3 cars around this age. Our first car was a 57 plate TDV8, the 2nd a 56 plate Supercharged and the current an 07 plate Supercharged and they’ve all done exactly the same thing when a trailer has been plugged in. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

So does it flash when you indicate.... well, go out when you indicate to show trailer is indicating too...?

Or is it just on all the time then?

Got a tow bar on mine but never used it.

On all of ours it’s just illuminated all the time. If a trailer light goes out it tells you on the message centre.

I can’t remember off the top of my head what the 2012 does, I think the trailer light only blinks when indicating.

On my 59 reg facelift it only comes on when indicating

On my 2012 it flashes when indicating otherwise it's off.
