TD6 Aux Belt Change Guide | |
Hi all, was completing the engine service on my TD6 last night. Last job was to fit an EGR bypass. I dropped a 10mm socket and short extension into the engine bay, it appeared to land in the under tray. I started it up, and after about 10 seconds a belt started to screech. I shut it off and checked, all seemed fine, fired up, and again nothing for a few seconds. The AC belt had started to strip, long strands of rubber handing off. My belts always chirped from cold but this is worse. I'll drop the tray later and find the tools. Is it possible to change the ac belt without removing the fan, fan shroud etc? Has anyone got a guide to changing all the belts, and idlers etc if required. Everything I could see still appeared to be spinning, but the inner edge of the ac pulley felt a lot warmer than the outside and the inside of the belt was stripping.
Thanks,
Dave
