Using IIDTool I checked some of the attributes associated with the fuel system.

At the point of testing I found the following readings:

Fuel Pressure 30720 kPa
Low Pressure Pump 368.8 kPa
Pressure Regulation Valve 0.3A

I'm guessing the the two pressure figures are in the right ball park but I'm confused as to what units the Pressure Regulation Valve is and whether that is in the normal range. Any ideas?

Would help if you updated your profile to which model/engine you have...

You can change the units in the IID tool menu to PSI etc...

Don't keep trying to find faults with your IID, if something is broken it will let you know soon enough....

Just clear all the faults and see what returns, then most of them can be ignored...

Part of the challenge is knowing what is broken and what is normal.

I'm a recent Range Rover convert and have bought a couple of 2003/4 TD6s. One appears to work fine (albeit the issues I have previously identified) and one that has starting and ongoing fuelling issues. I'm just trying to work out what normal is so I can try to fix the other one.

The 'broken' one has a fuel pressure issue I think, I just need to narrow it down so I took the opportunity of looking at engine and suspension issues, etc.

‘Lift pump’? Are you referring to the suspension air compressor or something in the fuel system?

Search diesel lift pump on here.... The suspension pump is usually referred to as the EAS pump, it doesn't actually lift anything it just fills a tank..!!..

Still struggling to find anything using that term.

What's an appropriate fuel pressure when starting a healthy car?

When I tried yesterday, with an admittedly not very healthy battery, it barely made 1200 - 1600 psi where as my healthy TD6 started so promptly I couldn't even catch the reading on start up but was around 4450 psi just after it was started.

Whatever issues there may be with the injectors I'm guessing a weak pump isn't going to help. Is this a straight forward job that just needs new pump seals or could there be something more fundamental that might require expert input?
