On my previous L322 I had a detachable flange towbar which was great, I pulled some very heavy loads with it and I was able to fit things like an enduro bike rack using the flange bolts, so it was really versatile. I want to fit one to my current car (2010 model) but having spoken to several suppliers, it seems they are no longer available leaving me with the choice of a fixed flange (awkward, ugly, shin-breaking, and may affect the reverse sensors) or a detachable swan neck (which I can't attach accessories to). Frustrating. The previous one was made by Tow Trust, and apparently Witter also made one for a while but don't do it any more.

So, bit of a long shot but if anyone has one they'd like to sell, I'd like to hear from you please! Just for reference, the previous one was very similar to this:

I have got one of these flange towbar necks fitted to mine. Came complete with storage bag for keeping it in the boot when not in use.

Giffer, that must be the Westfalia version, they're really useful but it seems nobody sells them any more!

I bought my Westfalia on eBay for £70. I then cut the bottom holes off, drilled some new holes and fitted the whole thing upside down. Pleased with the result:

If it's any help it appears PF Jones are still advertising Westphalia farmers hitches and subframes on their website. May be worth a call. Not cheapest, but a local supplier may be able to assist.

Thanks for this Richard. I spoke to PF Jones yesterday and was momentarily excited when they said yes, they could supply that, but needed to order the subframe in from Westfalia, but today he has confirmed that Westfalia are no longer making that and it's now obsolete. So in the absence of tracking down a NOS one or a used one I'm still knackered. No idea why a detachable flange towbar should be so difficult to get hold of but they're unobtanium now it seems. 5.0 S/C Autobiography - now gone to pastures new....

Thanks Bushy, I've been chasing a couple on there, some sellers seem to think that a manky picture of the towball from above is enough to warrant a price the same as a new one!! Waiting for one guy to get back to me with a bit more info. 5.0 S/C Autobiography - now gone to pastures new....

As per the title change, I'm sorted now, I found someone on Ebay who had a genuine LR/Westfalia bar for sale, and I can get the range hitch from PF Jones, so all good. I need to check in the tech section about the electrics but I'm told it's fairly basic plug & play plus some coding needed which I can get sorted.

if anyone reading this is looking there are still some on Ebay depending on which type you want/need, some are v expensive (IMO) but one are not! Try some additional search options, eg, mine wasn't listed as a "towbar`' but as a "tow hitch". 5.0 S/C Autobiography - now gone to pastures new....
