Front Passenger Window sticks after lowering just one inch

The front passenger window is sticking. It will lower by just 1" then stops. It will however go up again to the top. I thought at first it was freezing up, but when the car has thawed out, the fault remains.
So before I take the door card off to investigate, does anyone have any thoughts?
