Error: 0x12 Steering column radial motor - short circuit

Hi Everyone,

There are a few discussions on the issues of the steering wheel tilt not going to the right position when entering.

I'm having that same issue and would like to try to track down the root cause and maybe actually fix it.

The error code I get is: 0x12 Steering column radial motor - short circuit

Yea, not exactly very specific. I was hoping I could find out what the "0x12" meant but I can't find any listing of error codes other than DTC faults.

Does anyone know if there's a document somewhere that has greater detail on what that format of error message means? Any tips or pointers?

I've seen that there are a couple of separate electrical manuals but those are for the very early L322 models and there's a lot of difference between them and my 2009.

Thanks!
