Rain sensor variable wipers don't run after engine off.

Hi everyone,

The Rain sensor variable wipers on my '09 Autobiography work fine. But, if I leave the stalk in this setting when I turn off the car, when I get back in the wipers do not start even if it's raining. I thought maybe I needed to get to some speed faster than I would drive in a parking lot. But, even on the road they did not start.

If I stop the car (engine off and systems have gone to sleep), when I get back in I have to turn the wipers off and then back to the Rain sensor variable position again. Then they once again work fine.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this normal or yet another bug to fix?

Thanks!

That’s how it’s supposed to operate.

If they came back on automatically, and it was a cold morning and they were frozen to the screen, it wouldn’t end well....

mjdronfield,

Thanks! Living in the San Francisco/Bay Area, where we don't get snow and it hardly ever gets down to freezing, I didn't think of this!

To be fair, I did think that when I saw where you were....

We had snow in the UK this morning, but it’s raining now and washing away....

I wondered about it on mine, too. Never thought about snow as it doesn’t snow here in Sydney. It rains sometimes. Ron B. VK2OTC
