Strange Intercooler hose issue 2010 TDV8

Hi all, so I had a split in one of the intercooler hoses. I had a roll of tape in my pocket from work so I used it to get me home by wrapping the pipe to temp seal the split. It drove better than ever, better throttle response, no black smoke on acceleration and a better idle. I ordered and fitted the replacement part today. But with the new part on its now worse than ever. Lack of power, juddering under load but no smoke as before. All the same symptoms when the old part started to fail. I have checked the jubilee clips were tight enough because the wall of the pipe seemed a lot thicker than the old one and checked the other top hose. Could the new part have revealed a weak spot in another hose that's not immediately obvious? I had a quick look at the small 90 degree ones either side of the engine and they look good (not sure if they are part of the intercooler system) So not sure why it ran fine with the temp repaired part and rough with the new part.

Cheers,

Chris
