Hi all,

Thought I should introduce myself here after last week collecting my 2011 4.4 TDV8 L322.
I decided to take the plunge after previously owning a 2016 Golf R which really was an impressive car. A lot of my friends must be thinking I am bonkers switching from that to the FFRR but there is something about these cars that I have always loved. I used to work for some years in the Solihull factory where the L405 is made, L322 had just been deprecated when I started there. I think this may have something to do with my interest in the brand!

The car has done 86k miles with a full service history (mostly). She is booked in for a full service at my local specialist next week. I have already found a few issues (it wouldn’t be a Land Rover without some kind of issue would it?), such as oil leak from rear of engine and some belt noise when cold.

I must say this forum is a real encyclopaedia, I’ve spent ages just reading through numerous threads about common issues. Will definitely be tackling the oil cooler replacement by myself thanks to this forum I think!
Anyway here is the one photo I have of the car before I picked her up. Colour is Orkney Grey. Will try and get some more pics in the daylight over the Christmas break!

It's had a full service over christmas and the garage noted the following issues:

Both rear shock absorbers leaking slightly
Rear brake pipes corroded
Rear prop shaft centre bearing is cracked
Rear exhaust heat shield broken
Rear brake pipes are corroded
Oil leak from oil cooler

Not a great start to ownership but I was expecting some issues and it could be worse.

Getting fixed this week:

New rear prop shaft installed with bearing, new heatshield and new oil cooler assembly install.

I will have to tackle the other issues at a later date!

It’s quite normal for the adaptive dampers on the rear to leak or mist slightly. So it’s to be expected if it’s only a misting.

Mine is currently in the garage for rear brake pipes to be replaced... hopefully get it back tomorrow.

Yours might be the first one I’ve noticed with a silver grille, but black horizontal bar and fog light surrounds. Or I’ve not been observant enough 🤣.

Normally it seems to be all 3 silver or all 3 dark......

These are all know L322 issues. Would you not contribute towards the brake pipes, this could save you a lot of money at a later date.

most people leave the rear shocks until they proper leak

it's a bit of a "they all do that sir" situation

bit of a combo of black in-fills for the 2012 update (vs grey)
and the black splitter bar / fog surrounds being a Vogue and not SE or AB

There were not as many Vogues in 2012 which is probably why you haven't seen too many with this 'face'
Mostly 2012 was Westminsters and AB's as the run out kicked in

Interesting info about colour combinations on the front end. I like it anyway!

Glad to hear these are all known L322 issues, yes I will be getting the brake pipes done ASAP but simply not enough time this week. I wanted to do the oil cooler myself but in the end I gave in as it was already in the garage for the rear prop shaft replacement!

Great pics I see exactly what you mean now. All the combos look good! Yours is nice with the dark grille especially with the darker paint, tidy.

I think in 2011 it might have been just the AB with the silver grille etc.

No idea then 🤣 I see mine has Jupiter finish....
