2012 L322 Blower Motor Replacement Question

Quick technical question on the replacement of the blower motor on a 2012 L322 Westminster.

I currently have the vehicle in the garage to look at replacing a failed blower motor and have been informed the following...

The motor has seized which in turn has damaged the resistor. The resistor has then cooked part of the loom serving it and will require localised rewiring on the loom. My question is though, surely if the resistor was getting to a stage where its cooking the wiring loom, it would trip a fuse prior to it causing this much damage?

I would have thought so yes but the fuse to the resistor is 40amp so quite will take quite a current. The wiring to that resistor is pretty chunky cable though

It is fed from fuse R21 in the boot on the right hand side

Changing the blower motor is an involved job...will link to my recent thread

I was reading your post the other day.. its very involved

Did you happen to take any photos of the resistor in-situ once the dash was completely taken out?

The FSR is down on the offside of the central tunnel so it may not be too visible, even with the dash out.

There is a thread with pictures on removing the fan without disconnecting air con etc that I used when I did mine.

Cheers thanks Very Happy

In regards to the heater resistor, is it the same resistor found in the earlier models or did it change when the L322 was facelifted in 2010?
