Well after last post with the xmas tree of dash lights coming on and off during driving. Car due to persona circumstances is used for about 10 miles a week, well last week started OK, drove about 3 miles to local shops with dash lights coming on a coule of times, but going off right away. On return from shops around 200yds from house there was a band like a shotgun...but did not think it was the car as everything was OK

Got home parked car and opened bonnet for a quick check.

WOW.. bang was my battery exploding !!!

Well this week fitted new batter ...cautiously and after starting car and letting warm up ..... ALternator is chucking out beyween 16.5 and 19 volts to the battery !!!!

Booked into garage for new alternator next week

PS first 3 indipendant garages I asked if they could do job looked into engine bay and said....F--K -no way.

Heres hoping this fixes it.

Sounds very much like a faulty alternator.

They can take a battery down with them... or just appear to be a faulty battery.

Did you keep the old battery, just in case?

old battery has the top almost completely blown off and sides blown out at posative end ....goosed
