The sensor activates by wearing through a wire as it comes into contact with the disc - there is usually about 3mm left on the pad at this point. There are only two sensors on the car, one front and one rear which means if you have a binding calliper you can chew through one set of pads and get no warning. So when taking the pads out, check for even wear. Dan |

if you know your pads and discs are ok, then it could be that the wheel has worn through the wire and caused a short circuit, this is what happen on my front sensor (which is on the passenger side front wheel, rear sensor is on drivers side rear wheel) if you find that the wheel has worn through the wire make sure to check the brake pipes as it is a common problem for the wheel to rub through the rubber brake pipes when the wheels are turned to full lock.
