Sorry to state the obvious but should have replaced the latch assembly whilst the door was open!

Have you tried lubing the mechanism. There used to be a bung on the 322 to squirt lube into near the lock mechanism. Wonder if it’s worth firing some lithium grease in there to see if it frees it up. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

As I said earlier, change the latch mechanism NOW before its locked shut and you cant get it open! They pack up for a past time! |

I had this on my car a few years ago - the passenger door suddenly wouldn't lock/stay closed. I understand that this was a not uncommon problem and was subject to a recall. See https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic34164.html. |
