New Car

I've decided to go ahead and get a very lovely 3.6TDV8. Going to get gearbox oil/filter changed as part of a deal, just had a full LR service. After looking at posts I think I will get the EGR blocked off. I understand you may not need a remap after but does the remap improve bhp/mpg etc. Does any indie do this or are there "specialists"? I live in Worcester so if anyone has any recommendations it would be appreciated. One other query is that is dealer does the EGR work and subsequent MOT, is this a problem?

Got another quote to compare to Cam Tech for remapping without EGR removal and some interesting options on power up to 315bhp but they said they couldn't do remap if EGR,s were blanked. Is there a reason for this they imply it cannot be done? Just wondering...

Hiya

I would go with Craig and what he is advising. There are loads of car chippers out there but there's not a lot of people who know the Range Rover as Craig does.

Its your choice but I know what I would be doing. Whistle

I hope this helps

Anything can be done. I would only get a remap from somewhere who know how to develop the maps opposed to just loading them. Especially so when you have other modifications done.

Thanks for tips, yes I always prefer a specialist especially when car can be complicated. Craig has many recommendations so a sound choice.

They clearly don't know what they are talking about hence why we only recommend experts on here.

The 3.6 can defo be remapped with EGRs blanked. Personally I'd do this:

1) Go with Craig...
2) Have EGR physically blanked with a kit
3) Have the EGR mapped out digitally
4) Have a remap to a respectful level. Don't overdo the gearbox
5) Have all transmission fluids changed if not done so already.
6) Go with Craig Whistle Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Rob, yes it seemed strange to me. Your list of things seems fine to me, gearbox has been serviced already. Getting car tomorrow so will get a few things sorted, probably wait till New Year. Martin
