Why did I buy a RR?

Over the last year of ownership I have spent nearly more on the car than I paid for it! Had a major service last week including pads and discs only to go wrong again today! This time it started with a strange vibration with a type of miss fire noise. It's been back in to be checked and it I have been told it could be something to do with the LPG causing a valve to stick or corrode. Estimate to repair 2 to 5k as the engine needs to be stripped. It was running so well after the service with nearly all parts replaced but I think it's time to let it go. Not happy as it's by far the best car I have had and can't stand the thought of going back to a normal mode of transport. T55

2-5k to strip and rebuild the engine - I'd get a second opinion elsewhere on what the problem might be before committing that kind of cash

Good luck, hope you get it sorted 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Scotland 2005 Range Rover Autobiography Td6 Java Black

I was thinking exactly the same a few weeks back when my gearbox packed in at only 90,100 miles. £3,000 later it drives like new, all I need to fix now is the sound system, replace front indicator assembly and find out what the clunking noise is from the front end Big Cry
I agree with the other two posts though, you would miss it and try getting another assessment. I am sure there are guys on here close to where you are that can advise a good Indy to take it to.
Good luck hope it isn't as bad as originally reported. Traded in my Audi TT 225 for my Range Rover TD6 Autobiography in Java Black. Range Rover now sold.

Australia 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Hi Wooden horse and it may still save you money to keep the devil you have.

I went through a similar situation as yours back in 2007.

I had a 2002 L322 TD6 and as it was out of warranty, I was worried about the potential of on going operating and repair costs.

I have had 6 new LRs and even though I knew they were going to unreliable, ( it’s a Land Rover thing ) but there is supposed to be a warranty with new vehicles, so I was always happy to risk the reliability problems as they could taken care of by the warranty.

In 2007, I made the two biggest motoring errors of my life, I traded in my 2002 RR ( first mistake ) on a new 2007 RR ( my second and by far biggest mistake ).

With in 3 months of driving the 2007 RR out of the showroom, I realised I had the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned and I found out the Land Rover Warranty was not worth the paper it was printed on.

Hindsight is all good and well but if only I had kept my 2002 RR, I would be, even with an estimated $20k in on going repair I would have needed to spend on the 2002 RR, I would still be $150k better off, but I would also not have such a gut hatred for Land Rover as a company.

I also have a vehicle that is too unsafe to drive and I have bought my last Land Rover, so again in your case, better the devil you know, it may pay you to just put up with the on going repair costs rather than buying a newer more costly money pit. 2007 TDV8 Lux
