It’s probably about to squirt down the plastic trim on the inside of the car. There is a one way valve that can sometimes get clogged, under the spoiler I think. Other than that, the water goes through the middle of the motor and the seals go... motor rusts and brown water in the car. Eventually stops wiping too.

Have you tried the black plastic cap at the end of the wiper blade it gets debris in it and blocks the holes |

The one way valve was blocked on mine last year.

Check the two nozzles on the top of the wiper arm aren't clogged with dirt, using a needle to check them. Also check that the rubber water hose is secure, if it pops off you will end up with water cascading down the inside of the rear window and it collects in a pool in the interior trim panel that covers the wiper motor. How do I know this? It's just happened to me, no water on the rear wipe and then dribbling inside the car, took off the trim panel and got liberally coated with water. Went to Halfrauds and got some replacement hose and a connector. Will replace the hose and the non-return valve when the rain stops later today. |

I’m pretty sure you have to slide the rear spoiler off to get to the valve etc.

No you just need to unclip the interior trim panel to get to the valve. You only need to remove the rear spoiler if you want or need to remove the wiper arm. You need to remove the wiper arm if you need to remove the entire motor unit. I've got the trim panel off and the valve is in the wash line just before it goes into the motor housing, Item 4 as per Baltic Blue's picture above. |

I think the NRV is all fixable from inside of boot lid by removing the upper trim. But the spoiler has to come off to replace the motor or fix the Oring seal if it’s all leaking into the boot!

I have to hold down the rear screen wash button for around 15 seconds before any water comes out. Is this a sign that the one way valve has stopped working?

That sounds like someone had removed the valve, probably because it was blocked. The purpose of the NRV is to stop the water running back to the bottle. |

On mine the washer fluid had turned to a gel about 6" long. Once I pulled that out everything was fine. And after that I always flushed with water before refreshing the washer fluid. Apparently mixing different types can cause them to gel. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Just done my rear washer, removed the trim panel (just needs a firm tug to release the clips), replaced the worn popped off piece of hose and cable tied the hoses to secure the hoses on the nipples of the NVR and the motor inlet. Replaced the trim panel and all sorted. Took about 15 mins in total and now no more leaking and clean rear window. |
