My heater fan packed up earlier this week, 150 mile round trip nothing. Yesterday 50 miles and nothing. Given I've had the FSR replaced about a year ago (and yes Genuine LR part) I made a guess that it'd packed in again. My thinking is the fan is geting stiff and working the FSR harder, getting hotter but less air flow because fan is binding, eventually it goes pop... So I got a replacement yesterday and today between the rain showers I set too, after I'd used the car again for a local journey.
I pulled the pollen filter unit off to the feel how stiff the fan was and me it was running !! I dialed the knob up to full and sure enough the fan run at full speed. I stopped it all and felt the fan, it feels fine with very little resistance.
Is there an added element to the operation of these that I'm missing folks ???
