Aston Martin Rapide S with 8-speed gearbox and 81000 kms (50 000 miles) crossed my path whilst searching for an L405 Range Rover

Now it is a tough call between an L405 and the Aston - neither which is really needed, but more want than anything else. The L405 I considered has full service history but lots of scratches on the interior, stains on rear seat, etc., so decided not to take that one.

The Aston's interior is in better condition, except for driver's seat that shows some wear, but otherwise excellent, also FSH with Aston Martin according to who the car is in very good condition (Aston is not the selling dealer). It does however, have some exterior cosmetic marks such as the VPS film peeling in some areas, and the key being cracked.

Would I be mad if I buy the Aston

It’s two different propositions that is for sure. I now always buy the car that is in the best condition regardless of mileage or spec. I however, don’t have a big list of wants in a car, mostly they are satisfied with the standard kit on higher end manufacturers models.
I guess do you want to corner or waft? 😀

How do you look for an L405 and stumble across an Aston

If it's an itch that needs to be scratched, then buy the Aston

The Rapide is achingly beautiful, a personal fav.

It’s the only Aston (well, perhaps a DB7 Volannte) I’d have over an L405.

I’d never compare the two...

Aston, every single time. I did look at them, but went German instead, check my thread .There will always be loads of range rovers about, better to regret a decision than not. Pull the trigger, start a thread, we need pics....

Scratch the Aston itch by purchasing a DBX and have the best of both worlds?

I love my DB9 equally my 405! But I wouldn't get the family to Switzerland or to Cornwall for that matter without the 405!

@CTC - not yet ready for a DBX.

My sons are approaching 30 years old so its just the wife and I; though the young men still resides with us. Also, family travel is covered with the L322 and Disco3 as well as a few other sedan vehicles.

Only thing at this stage is which itch I should scratch first - L405 or Aston - wish I could scratch both at once
