3.6 TDV8 starter motor engage delay [Solved]

I've had a couple occations lately where there is a delay between turning the ignition over, to actual starter motor engaging.
The delay is probably just a second or so, but it feels like an eternety when you think your battery is flat.

I have however encountered the same issue with a fully charged battery (battery monitor installed).

As soon as the starter actually activates the solenoid and starts cranking, there is no indication of weak battery or poor ground. It spins the engine quick and easy.

No codes. 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway

After a while the starter failed completely. Fortunately I'd recently acquired a new starter motor;

1 x Starter Motor 3.6 Tdv8 (Denso) NAD500280 LR032541 LR021461 (LR032541G) = £243

Now, it might be worth noting that this starter motor is ratet to 2.7kw, while the old one I believe was only 2kw.
The new starter was also equipped with snorkel connectors, so obviously not a "correct" replacement.

That being said, the starter motor replacement was quick and easy, with a pleasing result. No delays when attempting to engage the starter motor, and the starter motor speed is just remarkable compared to the old unit. Thumbs Up 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway
