Hi guys, I have a 2010 MY 3.6 V8, which developed a fault on the way home from work when I accelerated to overtake a slow moving car and the dashboard light up like a christmas tree! Restricted performance mode message with the limp mode restricting the car to 15 mph....even with my foot on the floor. Stopped the car and restarted, but the car wouldn't reset. I manage to drive most of the four miles back home, then gave up when the 'traffic jam' behind me started to honk, and walked the rest of the way. Started up the next morning, but in restricted mode again. As it was under 'warranty' I rang the dealer and had it delivered back to them. Now they are claiming that it was my fault because I drove the car in limp mode!! Is there a 'recommended' time or distance that the car can be driven safely by Land Rover? Reading the forum, the fault looks to be one of three 'simple' things, but I feel the garage are trying to pull the wool. Anyone who can help or find the offical advice from Land Rover when this happens? Thanks Current RR L322 TDV8 VOGUE

Sounds like a split intercooler hose. Top right hand one as you look at the engine.

If so it’s a cheap 10 min fix. Doable on the drive with a screwdriver.

Limp home mode is there to get you home. I don’t think there is any official standpoint on how far you can or can’t drive. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Check the hose all around its circumference and around the clips. Take it off completely to check.

Thanks for your input guys, the mechanic who works for Farnell thinks the turbo may be shot, but I am sure that it wasn't because it was driven such a short distance in limp mode. Limp home mode is just that - the car has detected a fault and is allowing you to get home albeit at a reduced rate.

For the dealer to suggest driving a car in limp home mode is wrong needs to give his head a shake  ______________________________

Did they read the error codes and tell you what they were?

Could well be an intercooler hose or split inlet manifold. You would need the codes read.

And as others have said limp home mode is exactly what it says on the tin and if it was the turbo that's gone that's probably what caused it to go into the limp mode.

Depending on how long you've had it could you reject the car? Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue
