suggest you get an extension lead otherwise it's in an awkward spot right beside your knee

they are not expensive on ebay / amazon. I got one with a switch, it's left wired in all the time.

But if you leave it in (or 'on' in my case) it'll run down your battery FYI

mine is BT but when you leave a BT plugged is your knee can knock against.
I've essentially relocated the car's outlet.
Actually I did that from the rear so there were no hanging wires.

Thumbs Up Agree, but another important benefit to using a permanently connected extension lead is that it prevents wear and tear on the OBD pins.... easy to buy a new lead but not easy to replace the socket.
