Drop Links

Having read all the drop link articles on here, I think I need to do mine - hoping it’ll sort my clunking. Picking up a set of moog front and rears in the morning.

I just wanted to check if anyone had done it with the wheels on the ground for the fronts, looks doable with the suspension up.

The rears looks like a wheels off job, but if anyone can tell me different I’d be obliged.

No issue with taking the wheels off, but why do it if you don’t have too?

Oh yes, it’s a. 58 plate TDV8

You're correct about the rears - definitely a wheel off job.
For the fronts, although it might be possible without removing a wheel, I'm fairly sure it's much faster with a wheel off as the access is so much better.

Loosening the wheel nuts, sticking a jack under the front arms and removing the wheel can't take more then 5 mins vs the messing around on the floor to get access behind the wheel . For me a it's a no-brainer - wheels off. Paul,

Scotland 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

Did mine last weekend, much easier with the wheels off. Personally I wouldn’t attempt it with the wheels on.
Hardest part was getting the ARB pushed down far enough to relocate the bottom bolt, so a long bar will come in useful. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I did my front drop links with the wheels on. Didn't take much more than 15 mins from memory.

I’m just thinking that there would be less tension on them with the wheels on the ground.

Maybe I’ll see how I get on and have the jack handy.

To have no tension on the ARB, you need both front wheels on the ground, or both in the air.

Done them a few times now with both the wheels on and the wheels off. Found wheels on is fine if the nuts are not rusted up. If that nuts are rusted, would suggest wheels off so you can get in with and angle grinder 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Well after 10 weeks away, I finally got round to it today.

Left it on the wheels in off road height and it was fine, just remember to straighten the wheels before getting the old ARB out and putting the new one in.

A bit of wrestling with the lower bolt, but some penetrating fluid and a breaker bar sorted it. I couldn’t believe 1. How easy the top nuts were to remove and 2. How shot my old ones were.

Clunking sorted.
