TD6 - Many issues- where to start?

Hi Everyone,

Need a bit of help on where to start with my TD6.

A little background:

Gearbox oil and filter changed (with correct oil) about 2k miles ago. transfer box oil was also changed at this time with some GL 4 (given bad info), last month or so had some slight juddering on full lock, so changed this out on Monday for some FMB26 (all good, Judder gone)

About a week before that, I left it for 2 days, wouldn't unlock or start when I next got in it, battery totally dead, replaced the battery with my spare and headlight wipers immediately parked - guessed that was the cause of the drain as I had washed the screen with the lights on and they couldn't have parked causing the BCM to stay on. Strange thing, battery totally dead, charger says battery fault and wont charge it.

Apart from that it's been running fine doing 200 mile trip last weekend and short trips since. On Thursday I Drove it around 5 miles, left it for 30 mins, pulled away and got the trans failsafe message along with HDC inactive, air suspension inactive. and low ratio light on or flashing.

It drove home fine, box smooth but since then, while trying to trouble shoot, changes are rough and it wont go past 3rd gear, it also wont shift into low range.

My Hawkeye Total also wont clear the following codes:

DTC: 99 CAN bus transfer box range error, sporadic fault, currently not present
DTC: 68 Steering angle sensor internal currently not present
DTC: 5A Brief power interruption. Currently not present
DTC: 50 Can Bus Failure, short circuit to positive. Sporadic fault. currently present

I've tested the resistance on the hi/low range plug and its correct for high range which its in, around 5 Kohm and the wiring looks fine as it does ECU end, cleaned all the contacts anyway.

I think its more related to the battery drain issue rather than the transfer box oil change but the canbus short is a big concern.

Any ideas please?

I would be tempted to bung a brand new battery in it as these beasts are very sensitive to batteries that don’t hold a full charge.
