Warranty Issues RR Auto 2017

Took the RR in for service.

Cameras and sensors
------------------------
Cameras and sensors playing up and asked them to investigate for me. Garage did a software update for both which should fix. Known issue and possible recall i think. I bumped bumpers causing a little cosmetic damage which I asked JLR to fix. They replied...
'Please note that sensors and cameras are guidance systems and may not be relied on when maneuvering the vehicle. it is for this reason that we can not be held responsible for damage caused to the vehicle whilst it remains under your own control.'
i replied...

- cameras and sensors may be guidance system but your website and marketing materials do not suggest they shouldn't be relied upon, the following is taken from your website. '360° PARKING AID
Parking aid sensors on the rear, front, and sides provide real-time audible and visual feedback to indicate how close you are to obstacles.' https://www.landrover.co.uk/incontrol/driv...html I'm sure that any judge would say a member of the public would read this to mean the driver can rely on the sensors. They were not working as well as they should have been - the dealer accepts this and has taken action. I believe there was a recall on this item? I expect both items can be repaired for £250.

Front Arm Bushes
-------------------
-I've also been informed that my 'front arm bushes are cracking and perished'. I would not expect this to be happening within the warranty period and feel they should be replaced under warranty.

is this last item covered under warranty does anyone know?

tailgate seal pinched
-----------------------
took car in before saying the rear tailgate had dropped (thanks to the forum for pointing this out as possible issue). They told me was in acceptable tolerances on the first visit.
then noticed the top of the seal had been pinched by tail gate closing (because it had dropped) and deteriorated and as a result water was getting in.
they fixed this today under warranty.

Six months extra warranty.
------------------------------
assume everyone knows JLR are offering an extra six months warranty because of covid and garages not being open for warranty work initially.

You hit something with your front bumper and got JLR to cover that under warranty? Impressive.

IME - Mine was only covered under [failed] MOT insurance which is part of the Extended Warranty - see my horrific experience when I let an independent do it. It wont be covered under normal warranty use. Bizaare I know! all smug in my new plug!

I'd call a garage you don't plan to take it to, that is main dealer and ask the "normal" scenario to be confirmed and then another for MOT failure......then go back to your planned dealer with the option that suits you best lol

terrible it has to be done like that!! all smug in my new plug!

‘ I am sorry for any misunderstanding as your manufacturers three year comprehensive warranty has not been extended for 6 months as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak. This is something that has been outside of our control as a vehicle manufacturer and we can not be held accountable for this.’

This is what jlr just said but I was told at the start of lockdown that warranty would be extended because we couldn’t take the car into the garage. --

Has someone not got confused with the previously mooted 6 month MOT extension period?

No. No confusion on that. Six months extra for mot.

But also if ur warranty expired in the lock down. Mine was April. A goodwill extension of six months on the warranty because I couldn’t get into/ even call the garage to get the warranty work done.

The trim around the back of my boot which I explained above was done under warranty. But I’m out of the three year warranty period. --

had another response just to clarify...

'Should this be the case and your approved Land Rover retailer feel it is justified, they have been empowered by Land Rover to offer a Gesture of Goodwill without the need of Land Rover's approval.'

So the warranty hasn't been officially extended but what they have done is empowered the dealers to do warranty work outside the main warranty period (six months maybe) without needing approval from JLR which effectively extends the warranty 6 months. I guess it's only for RR's whose warranty expired march onwards for a few months.
