That’s a bit scary. One of the advantages of going from L322 to L405 was to not worry too much about rust….

That, looks like electrolysis to me? dissimilar metals together with saltwater create electrolysis? |

If the body has some flex between the mating surfaces then the water will capillary between to start it off? boats, outboard motors,l that is in contact with salty water has a sacrificial anode.

What a depressing thread. My 2017 405 has had various bolts around the headlight mounts replaced due to galvanic corrosion (visible white furring) and one on the lower tailgate under the flap at the back of the tailgate (just rust there). The dealers said they were well used to replacing the bolts around the headlights. Scotland will be particularly bad for corrosion with so much salt on the roads and lots of wet weather.

That's scary. Especially given that it's above the subframe and can't be easily inspected.

Definitely dissimilar corrosion going on there. Moisture forms the electrolyte and the fizzing begins. Sad to see a poor choice of materials there and a lack of separation between the steel and aluminium. 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

I think the problen in this thread on the L405 https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic55957.html which i have suffered at great expense is down to two dissimilar metals and galvanic corrosion occurring or it might just be a bad batch of knuckles. |

Lost my 2014 ATB to corrosion. 70k miles. Over $30k in damage. Probably would have been over $40k had I done the repairs. Rusted sunroof drain flooded the vehicle interior.
